Toddler Yoga? Are you serious?

“I have been taking my daughter to yoga with Katie every week for two and half years, starting when she was only 10 weeks old. We have both enjoyed every minute of our yoga journey together, but in many ways it was toddler yoga that seemed to benefit her the most.

Anna has always been extremely active and as soon as she could walk, she relished the new-found independence of being a toddler. Yoga became the safe place where she could experiment with different ways of moving and interacting with other children, as well as on her own and with me.

The physical side of it provided her with a bit of ‘danger’ by, for example, going upside-down, whereas the social aspect of doing yoga with other toddlers has helped her form some of her closest friendships.

Some people say to me that their child would never survive a toddler yoga class because they couldn’t sit still for long enough, but they couldn’t be more wrong about what actually happens during the lesson! The group is active, fun and extremely engaging for toddlers and adults alike. Whats more, nothing is expected or forced and the toddler can participate at whatever level they feel like.

It wasn’t all for Anna’s benefit; Katie’s yoga classes have always been a wonderful and caring environment for me as a mother, and were never more appreciated and needed than when Anna was a toddler.” Emily Harrison
