Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy

I have always had an interest in the mind. My curiosity lead me to study language and the mind at university (twice!) and then onwards through the foothills of the Himalayas to study with Indian Yogis who had undergone traditional training, and live within a Tibetan Buddhist community.

Back in the UK I taught meditation and weekly yoga classes, workshops and retreats for 15 years, with a particular interest in Yoga Nidra.

Hypnotherapy, therefore, is like lying back in the grass, looking at the stars and recognising the constellations.

I am delighted that as a Hypnotherapist, I cam able to put together everything I know to help people change their lives for the better.

What is hypnotherapy?

There’s a whole lot of shared ground between yoga and hypnotherapy. Both take you into a trance state; in yoga this is through breathing, counting and progressive muscle relaxation.

Yoga nidra, for example, does this so you can experience a deep relaxation, work with your intentions and connect to the divine.

Hypnotherapy uses very similar techniques to get there, but it’s getting you there for transformation; by making positive guided suggestions while you’re in a trance state. By helping release stuck emotions, processing and come to terms with them, you can reach a place of acceptance and peace, where you can get back on track with your life.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

In this way, hypnotherapy can provide break-through re-programming to help us move away from what’s been holding us back from achieving health & happiness.

It can help with:

  • Pain management
  • Addictions
  • Confidence
  • Sleep issues
  • Anxiety & depression
  • Life direction
  • Peri/menopause
  • Fertility
  • Hypnobirthing
  • PTSD
  • Forgiveness
  • Sports performance
  • Weight loss & gain
  • Smoking cessation
  • Healing
  • Soul midwifery
  • Relationship issues
  • Fears & Phobias
  • …. and much, much more

Therapy usually takes place over 4 sessions and is effective in a high number of cases.

Hypnotherapy sessions can be face to face or on Zoom.

Sessions are normally 60 minutes long. The first session is usually longer (up to 90 minutes).

What to expect

In the first session, I will ask you about your goals for hypnotherapy; there will be time to talk about this and to answer any questions you may have about hypnosis. We will then do a therapeutic session together, tailored to your needs, during which you will experience a trance state.

We go into a trance state many, many times a day. For example when you drive your car home and suddenly find yourself in your driveway, without remembering all the turns you took, you have been in a trance state. The unconscious part of your mind took over and drove the car, whilst the conscious part of your mind did something else.

In hypnotherapy, I assist you to go into a trance state in which your unconscious mind becomes very receptive to positive suggestions. This can enable the unconscious mind, if it wants to, to let go of old habits it has been hanging onto, which no longer serve you.

Your unconscious mind will only make the changes it is ready to make. Success in therapy, therefore depends much on trust; trust in the process, and trust in it being the right time for you.
